Dr. Raphael Moshe Fox (aka Dr. Robert Fox) Doctor of Oriental Medicine, Acupuncture Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Biomedical Engineer and Stem Cell Researcher has been studying traditional medicinal roots and herbs since 1997, and has used them in his practice since 2001.  He started Shalem Healing Inc. in Milwaukee, WI in 2003.  Visit www.shalemhealing.org to learn about his practice.

Throughout the years, and based on his years of study of modern nutritional science, Dr. Fox has enhanced the traditional formulas. After achieving significant improvements in his patients’ health, Dr. Fox is now offering Refua Medicinals, a blend of traditional Chinese medicine and modern nutritional science, to help more people.

At a very young age, Raphael Moshe discovered in the basement of his parents’ house the medical records of his grandfather’s patients. His grandfather, who had passed away years before, was a physician specializing in infectious diseases and was widely known for his research and for solving the most challenging cases.

Dr. Fox inherited his grandfather’s passion and commitment, of which he says:

Ever since I was three or four years old looking through all of my grandfather’s records and pictures of polio patients, I knew I wanted to be a doctor and to help people as much as he did.

As a teenager, Raphael Moshe became interested in martial arts. His first teacher was a great believer in the healing powers of nutrition. Since that time, he knew that in order to be a good doctor, he would have to introduce nutrition, and a natural, healthy lifestyle, to his practice.

As a holistic system, Traditional Chinese Medicine soon caught his attention. Traditional Chinese Medicine includes Chi Kung, a healing system that integrates physical postures, breathing techniques and meditation; Tai Chi, a martial art and health exercise; Chinese macrobiotics, a nutritional system based on the natural laws of life and change; acupuncture and herbal medicine, which restore balance to the body; and other practices.

A Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor has a close relationship with nature and is able to determine and understand a person’s constitution, find imbalances, and provide a cure. Based on natural principles and deeply connected to the earth, Traditional Chinese Medicine is a more comprehensive and effective healing system than Western medicine.

During his years of study, Dr. Fox interned under Dr. Leaf Ye Song, M.D., at her Madison clinic, and at Guanzhou University Hospital and Provincial Hospital.

Dr. Fox returned to the United States after his rotations in China. He started using the traditional formulas in his practice, modifying them based on his knowledge of modern nutritional science. Throughout the years he has seen these formulas work for thousands of his patients.

My goal is to make true, effective medicinal products available to more people, and to make them aware of the beauty and effectiveness of herbal medicine.

Roots and herbs are ground. When Dr. Fox started prescribing teas in his practice, he soon realized that it was not practical for his patients to cook the herbs and roots for several hours a day, and decided to grind the ingredients for them. Besides being more practical, the medicinal properties are extracted more effectively and the cooking period is much shorter.

Refua Medicinals formulas are a blend of Traditional Chinese Medicine and modern nutritional science. In his formulas, Dr. Fox combines his knowledge of both the ancient practices and modern scientific principles. There has been, and continues to be, extensive research on the healing properties of nature, how to extract its medicinal substances, and how to help the body absorb them in the most effective ways.

The body has an innate ability to heal itself, and Refua Medicinals formulas promote and support this innate healing process.

"Our bodies and minds are our vehicle in this world. When there’s disease in the body, our vehicle is affected and our soul is not able to manifest to its full potential.

My desire is to help people have a healthy vehicle for their soul to shine through."
